Cairo: the Capital, is a city of astonishing diversity and vitality uniting elements of Africa, The Orient and Western Europe. Sprawling around the Nile and up towards the Delta, Cairo has a population of about 15 million. Do not miss: the Egyptian Museum with the celebrated treasures of Tutankhamun, The Khan-El-Khalili Bazaar, The Pyramids and Sphinx in Giza area. Camels and horses may be hired.


Nile Cruises: the majority operating from Luxor to Aswan on luxury ships ideally for 4 nights/ 5 days very popular over Christmas and New Year’s and must be well booked in advance.


Luxor: contains a vast conglomeration of ancient monuments, the valley of the Queens and Kings, where 64 of the Pharaohs are depicted in an enormous relief hewn from the rock.


Aswan: as well as being a beautiful winter resort with many hotels, Aswan, has a huge array of temples and monasteries, the Elephantine Island’s ancient Nilometre and the Aswan High Dam, one of the 3 largest in the world. Abu Simbel, surviving largely thanks to a UNESCO backed project in the 60s with the two magnificent temples of Ramses II. Also do not miss the temple of Edfu, one of the best-preserved in Egypt.


Sinai and Red Sea: the most well known resort the one of Sharm El Sheikh, the paradise for divers with a large variety of coral, tiny florescent fish, giant turtles, Napoleon wrasse and nurse sharks which are some of the species there. Hurghada, also popular and a well equipped diving resort. Do not miss: St. Caytherine’s, monastery in the area.
